SING GOSPEL WITH RICHARD MCNAIRY
HELLO EVERYONE AND WELCOME TO SING GOSPEL!
The vocal samples on this website are in the tradition of gospel music as created by Thomas A. Dorsey. Mr. Dorsey is considered to be the Father of Gospel music.
He created the sound many know as gospel music in 1932 when he wrote the song Precious Lord Take My Hand after the death of his wife and child.
Mr. Dorsey combined jazz, christian praise, blues and negro spirituals to create a unique sound called gospel music. The music has evolved a great deal since it's inception. Gospel music has three main elements: Improvisation, Syncopation and Call and Response.
