Dorsey. Mr. Dorsey is considered to be the Father of Gospel music. </strong><br /><strong></strong><br /><strong>He created the sound many know as gospel music in 1932 when he wrote the song Precious Lord Take My Hand after the death of his wife and child.</strong><br /><strong></strong><br /><strong>Mr. Dorsey combined jazz, christian praise, blues and negro spirituals to create a unique sound called gospel music. The music has evolved a great deal since it's inception.
